Meet Joe Cullen

I always wanted to be a teacher and coach – and that’s what I get to do as a financial planner. Ultimately, I get to help people set-up a game plan for personal and financial success.

My specialty is helping people manage their cash flow, which is where I believe most efficiencies can be picked up. For example, I coach clients on what to do with each dollar that comes through the door. Should we immediately pay off debt, deposit in the bank, or invest? I offer strategic ways to evaluate and optimize these decisions, because managing money today is very different from the “piggy bank” mentality that many of us were taught while growing up.

Why I do it

I did not grow up with any knowledge about how to save or manage money.
I remember what it was like to make undisciplined choices – and so I value the opportunity to teach clients how to remove emotion from money, as emotions make the management of money inefficient. For example, I will begin by evaluating where the value is locked up in their business – and should they sell at all – or would they prosper more by maintaining the business and receiving the cash flow for a few more years. Once they commit to selling the business, I am figuring out their wealth gap – how much they spend per year, and what amount they will they need in sale proceeds in order to not wake up in 15 years with no money left.

What does success look like?

Success is when clients tell us that their service experience with us is akin to that provided by a hospitality concierge.
High-touch, comprehensive service is so important to me that I became a Certified Exit Planner so that I could optimize the tools and resources I provide business owners as they move through the steps of an eventual sale of their business.
